I’ve been seeing these more and more often lately and I have a few friends who actually have started writing them. These are books that have features of traditional RPG videogames.
Whereas books have been made into games and games have been made into books, this is more of a hybrid. It’s not a choose your own adventure. It’s a story with features of a game.
A great example of a litrpg is the new Jumanji movie. The world exists with game rules that the players, main characters, have to abide by. IN some cases characters have multiple lives or special abilities.
I’m seeing more of these and I’ve even heard of a group trying to get litrpg listed as a genre on Amazon. As writing evolves it’s always good to be aware of new/developing genres.
